Prior to the 2020 tax year, when you filed your 1099-MISC tax return with the IRS, box 7 was a money field used to report “Nonemployee compensation”, but now if you look at the form you can see that box 7 is a check box for indicating if the payer made direct sales of $5,000 or more of consumer products to a buyer (recipient) for resale.
If the amount in this box is SE income, report it on Schedule C or F (Form 1040), and complete Schedule SE (Form 1040). You received this form instead of Form W-2 deferrals.
